Hyeryeong Cho(Herry) is a Seoul-based spatial designer and blogger who uses her platform to convey stories about everyday life and interior spatial. She focuses on creating functional and beautiful environments that invite audiences into new experiences, particularly in areas such as branding, F&B (food and beverage), and commercial spces. Hyeryeong's work centres on the narratives embedded in old buildings, as well as themes of reuse and sustainability. Her projects range from designing communal spaces like bakery cafés and performance venues to event pavilions and future scientific observatories, extracting design strategies from these sites and conducting material experimentation-based research projects.
Having successfully studied in both South Korea and the UK, Hyeryeong has gained an international academic experience that enriches her design perspectives and skills. She imagines spaces as living experiences, akin to those in dramas or films, and seamlessly develops engaging functions through 3D modelling and visualisation using advanced drawing and computer programmes.
Hyeryeong aims to provide audiences with memories derived from their experiences and believes that spatial designers should create environments that mitigate the conflicts and concerns generated by people through participatory architecture. She views adaptive reuse in spatial design as an innovative mindset that conveys the directions of the past, present, and future. By fostering collaborative relationships with users, she ensures that everyone can experience spaces without discrimination, weaving their stories into her work.
